Guacamole and Corn Tortilla Chips, Cinco de Mayo Party Starter

In its history, Cinco de Mayo celebrates the unlikely victory of Mexico in a battle against the French infusing great pride and inspiration among the Mexican people. Today, Cinco de Mayo acknowledged and celebrated by many throughout the United States in a symbolic sort of way also celebrates the spirit of the Mexican people and the beautiful culture of which they offer, including the styles and flavors of its foods.

While the Cuisine of Mexico is diverse, many of the popular dishes commonly shared marking this celebration are tortilla based and over the years have grown to open many a mainstream party in an ongoing basis, especially in the form of corn or flour tortilla chips served alongside tomato salsa and guacamole.

Mixing the avocado with assorted fresh flavors and ingredients in my own mind has got to be one of the greatest food inventions of all time and who can complain about snacking on something simultaneously awesome tasting and healthy at the same time?

Acidity added to the avocado when making guacamole is essential for keeping the avocado its bright green color and preventing it from becoming brown on the top. If this happens, you can scoop off the top and still find the bright green essence underneath. The key tip is prepping all of the ingredients beforehand, including the tomatoes, onions, lime juice, and cilantro, only exposing the avocado for mashing right before you are ready to serve it. With your entire ingredients ready, it only takes a couple of minutes to put the whole combination together right before serving.

With such a quick and easy way to begin your party you might want to go even a step further purchasing some extra limes for preparing your own homemade Margarita, or popping into the bottle of your favorite Mexican Beer.
